Install & your first course

From a fresh install to a finished course is about a minute, and the first one needs no API key.

1 · Install

   Open the CoursifyYT listing on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.

   Chrome will ask you to confirm the permissions: access to youtube.com (to draw the panel and read captions), storage, tabs and scripting (to read the page's channel/video ID and its captions), and notifications. Every one of them is explained on the Privacy page.

   Optional: pin it. Click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin CoursifyYT so the popup is one click away.

2 · Build your first course

There are three ways to start a course. They all produce the same thing.

   From a channel page (easiest). Open any YouTube channel — the main page, or its /videos tab — and look for the floating CoursifyYT button in the top-right. Click it, then click Make Course.
2. 2
   From the popup. Click the CoursifyYT toolbar icon and paste a channel URL or @handle. If you already have a YouTube channel tab open, the field is prefilled for you — it never starts on its own.

   From the subscriptions feed. Channels you follow that don't have a course yet appear as dashed ＋ channel suggestions in the feed bar. Clicking one takes you to that channel with the panel already open.

3 · Learn from it

   Click the first video in the course. The in-page panel opens beside the player with a “You are here” breadcrumb showing where this video sits in the curriculum.

   Watch. At 80% the video ticks itself off, and if Autoplay next in course is on, the next video in your course order starts — not YouTube's suggestion.
3. 3
   Come back any time: your course is a chip on the home feed, an entry in the popup's History, and the panel on every video from that channel.

Do I need an API key?

No — the free tier runs on our keys. It is capped, though, and adding your own key removes every cap.
